Nominations for the 22nd annual Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards have been announced and Philippine destinations feature in several of the categories.
The Philippines has once again received recognition from the United Kingdom’s longest-running travel magazine in this year’s Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. The country has been nominated for Most Desirable Country, Most Desirable Region (Cebu), and Most Desirable Island (Palawan).
Aside from the above three nominations, travelers can also cast their votes for Philippine destinations in other categories such as Adventure, Nature and Wildlife, Culture and Heritage, Gastronomy, and Sustainable Experience.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her delight at these accolades, attributing them to the timeless beauty of the country and the combined efforts of the public and private sectors in post-pandemic times.
Secretary Frasco emphasized that the nominations, along with the recent milestone of reaching three million foreign arrivals, serve as affirmations that the world is embracing the Philippines once more. The country is now being reintroduced as a destination of choice, showcasing its many attractions and reasons to be adored.
Wanderlust Travel, now in its 22nd year, is continuing its tradition of honoring outstanding contributors to the tourism industry. The judging panel comprises independent experts, seasoned travelers, and avid Wanderlust readers.
The prestigious awarding ceremony will take place in November at the renowned British Museum. Last year, the Philippines’ renowned destination, Palawan, won the Gold Award for the Most Desirable Island in the Rest of the World category.
